Among the top motorcycle routes Morocco offers, a few stand so far above the rest that they justify the flight on their own. These are the rides we build our tours around — tested in every season, in both directions, with the café stops to prove it.

Tizi n’Test — the connoisseur’s pass

Older, narrower and quieter than the Tichka, the Test road from Marrakech to Taroudant is pure riding: 2,092 m of altitude and barely a straight metre. Combine both passes into a two-day loop for the best mountain riding in North Africa.

The Road of a Thousand Kasbahs

Ouarzazate to Tinghir via the Dades and Todra gorges: canyon switchbacks, mud-brick fortresses and the famous Dades hairpins you have seen in every motorcycle ad. Ride it as part of our Atlas Sahara Tour.

The Sahara circuits

Marrakech → Aït Benhaddou → Erg Chebbi (or Erg Chegaga) → Draa Valley → back: four to six days of the most varied riding imaginable — passes, gorges, palm oases and finally the great dunes. Our Sahara Tour runs this with full support.

The Atlantic run

Essaouira to Agadir on the coastal road: ocean on the right, argan trees on the left, grilled fish at every stop. The relaxing finale Morocco circuits deserve.

All routes are rideable on a rental from our Marrakech fleet — self-guided with our route notes, or fully guided. The official Visit Morocco site is great for what to see between rides.

Linking Them into a Grand Tour

The magic of Morocco is that these routes connect. Tichka out, Kasbah road east, dunes at Merzouga, Draa valley south-west, Anti-Atlas to Taroudant, Test pass home: roughly 1,600 km and six riding days, with no road repeated and no transit days wasted. It is essentially our 6-day Sahara Tour itinerary, refined over dozens of departures — and it works equally well self-guided in spring and autumn.

Add the Atlantic leg and Essaouira for an eight-to-nine-day circuit that touches mountains, desert and ocean. Riders who complete it tend to use the same word: complete.

Road Conditions in 2026

Good news: the kasbah road resurfacing is finished, and the Tichka’s long roadworks era is over — the pass now flows beautifully end to end. The Test remains narrow with broken edges (its charm and its warning), and the last kilometres to Erg Chegaga are genuine piste requiring off-road rubber and ideally a guide. Fuel gaps above 120 km exist only south of Zagora; everywhere else, planning is trivial. Conditions change with weather, so we brief every rider on the latest before departure.

Quick Answers

How many days do the big routes need?

Tichka + kasbahs + dunes comfortably fills 4–6 days; add the coast for 8–9. Shorter trips should pick one region and ride it well.

Are the routes safe for solo riders?

Yes — Morocco’s main touring roads are well-travelled and friendly. We monitor solo riders’ routes free of charge on request.

What is the single best month?

October. Warm desert, clear passes, empty roads. April runs it very close, with greener valleys.
